A hydrate is a naturally occuring or manmade salt that contains water molecules bound within the crystal structure of a solid. The purpose of the lab is to determine the percentage of water in a hydrate, copper sulfate (CuSO4).  The empirical formula of CuSO4 is CuSO4 * 5H2O. After the experiment, the results receieved should reflect a 1:5 ratio.
