Data Analysis:

The table shows the observations made during each procedure to find out which cations can be eliminated to identify the unknown cations present in the mixture of solutions.

Conclusion:

The purpose of this lab is to identify the cations present in an unknown solution. Qualitative analysis was used to identify the substances present in the unknown solution. Qualitative analysis is used by reacting the unknown solution with a number of different reagents. Based on the results from the lab, the cations found in the unknown solution #2 are Fe3+ and Ni2+ ions.  The results found that there was two cations found in the Unknown solution #2.  Experimental errors could have been from the Unknown solution #2 already being contaminated, not separating supernatant and precipitate totally during certain procedures, or contamination occurring during experiments.
