Many of the benefits of induced pluripotent stem cells are still being researched since they have not been used very often to try to cure anything or be used with humans. That being said the possibility of how induced pluripotent stem cells can be used is very great. Induced pluripotent stem cells are able looked as having the same potential as embryonic stem cells without the ethical controversy of using embryos because they can be formed without the use of embryos. This takes out the argument of the ethics of using embryos. The possibilities of what induced pluripotent stem cells could do are endless. They could allow for a limitless supply of tissues to be used for medical purposes. Because the induced pluripotent stem cells are able to form any of the three germ layers there is the possibility to have them form any type of tissue found in the body. As research develops, better ways of forming the induced pluripotent stem cells have been found that make it safer to be used. For example, it has been found that using non-viruses to reprogram the somatic cell show fewer abnormalities in the cell. It has also been found that not using the c-Myc transcription also helps lower the risk of cancer forming because of the induced pluripotent stem cell. The induced pluripotent stem cells can eventually be used to learn more about disease by reproducing the disease to be studied and test possible treatments on it. They can also be used to form tissues and blood cells to be used for transplants without having to worry about the body rejecting it.
