Advantages

Magnesium chloride is being used more now than ever as a winter road treatment. It is a liquid anti-ice treatment like sodium chloride and calcium chloride instead of salt and sand, which just melt the ice.  Magnesium chloride is very corrosive, especially to brakes, but corrosion is preventable. After driving through the elements, the first thing that should be done is clean off the winter road treatments, which can get stuck in the wheels. It is crucial not to use recycled water, since it contains high percentages of sodium chloride from salt build ups. Another way of prevention is for drivers not to walk in seawater or puddles because the chlorides from the bottoms of shoes can cause corrosion on the floors, brake throttle, and clutch linkage
