Purpose: To identify the anions present in a mixture of solutions

Background: Anion analysis is almost identical to cation analysis (done in lab 14a) but is simplier because separations are not usually required. During the process of anion analysis, known four common anion solutions are analyzed: PO42- (Phosphate), Cl- (Chloride), SO42- (Sulfate), and NO3- (Nitrate). In anion analysis, reactions are used to  identify specific anions, and then the anions present in the unknown solution are identified.
