Discussion/Conclusion:

The purpose of this lab was to determine the stoichiometric ratio between silver and the unknown ion. To do this, various solutions were mixed together containing different ratios of the two ions. The conductivity was then measured and the smallest conductivity is used to determine the stoichiometric ratio of the solutions. After performing the lab, the lowest conductivity was in test tube 7 and it was 1040 mS. This means the likely stoichiometric ratio of the Ag to the unknown is 2:1. Test tube 7 had 7.00 mL of Ag solution and 3.00 mL of the unknown solution. If the ratio is 2:1, then the equation would be:

2Ag+(aq) + B-2(aq) --> Ag2B(s)
