Conclusion: The water content of the hydrated salt was 70. This is extremely high because the ratio between salt and water should be closer to 5:1. The balanced used was accurate so the error could have come from contaminants on the crucible. Other areas for possible error are the dehydrated sample was exposed to air, all of the CuSO4 may not have burned, and the crucible was not cool completely before taking its mass. If more than one trial had been conducted, then the overall results would have been more accurate.
