Introduction:

The goal of this experiment is to determine the cations present in a solution or mixture of solutions. As such, this experiment uses qualitative analysis (a means for determining the chemical composition of an unknown substance by systematically reacting the unknown substance with a number of different reagents) to identify the cations present, by the reactions produced.

I hypothesize that by running both unknown solutions through the steps of qualitative analysis, that we should be able to identify the cations that they contain.
